WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
MAKES US BETTER
We Bring Fairness to the Diamond Market
The idea for US Diamond Traders was created years ago, when Todd Latson was working as a sales representative for a loose diamond company. He learned the business by selling to independent jewelry stores across the country, and purchasing diamonds from the public. Todd noticed that, although his company was paying people higher margins that most other companies, there was still room for more profit to the individual sellers.
We saw the need for change
Most buyers love the diamond business because individual sellers don’t know what they don’t know, and most buyers pay less than fair market value so they can turn a larger profit. Todd saw a serious need that was going unfulfilled… the need to provide fair market value to both buyers and sellers of diamonds, while still getting a fair price for his services. He started US Diamond Traders to proactively educate the public on how their own diamond fits into the current market, and what the fair market value should be.
“Sell First” vs. “Buy First”
Most diamond stores and sellers have a “sell first” mentality. This means they are always focused on sales, and want to have the most inventory available so customers can have the largest selection. This means pre-buying lots of inventory and waiting for buying customers. Big advertising budgets, store overhead and multiple sales people mean the customer pays a higher margin on their diamond – the same diamond they could get for less with US Diamond Traders.
Todd created a “buy first” business with US Diamond Traders. We don’t pile up inventory, and we keep our overhead, sales people, and advertising to a minimum. What we do and how we do it is custom for each and every client. For sellers, we analyze each individual diamond and either buy it outright, or utilize our consignment program and market to our global network of buyers to get the best possible price. For buyers, we work with their individual needs – what they want to find – then go about finding it for them. It may take more time, but it’s well worth the savings.
Our business was built on the premise of helping the public better understand the diamond market, and then, getting them the very best sale or purchase price for their diamond.
